BENEFITS OF BEESWAX
Did you know that beeswax can help you retain moisture in your skin, reduce inflammation, and improve acne? Would you like to know more?
Keep reading because of these benefits and some more we will talk about today.
To begin with, what is beeswax?
Well, beeswax is a substance secreted by young honey bees to create their hive and store honey. That liquid they produce solidifies on contact with the air, creating small scales that they use to form their nest.
This wax is very special, as it has a very specific chemical structure based on wax esters, that is, fatty acid and alcohol components that naturally help our skin retain moisture.
BENEFITS OF BEESWAX ON OUR SKIN
-
It protects us from environmental pollution.
Surely you have seen that when wax from a lit candle accidentally falls on us, apart from burning us because it is very hot, when it solidifies, it forms a layer that protects the skin.
That same property is maintained in cosmetics, when we use it in creams or gels it creates a thin film on the skin that protects and waterproofs it from environmental pollutants such as dust, smoke, among others. It's also comedogenic, which means it won't clog pores and lets your skin breathe.
-
It keeps your skin clean and healthy.
Beeswax has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that honey also has, so your skin remains clean and relaxed. These properties are excellent for keeping fungi and bacteria at bay, treating and improving acne. It is especially useful for people suffering from psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis, etc.
-
Moisturize your skin.
As we mentioned before, beeswax helps our skin to be hydrated due to its insulating property that keeps water molecules trapped near the pores.
-
It is an excellent balm.
Beeswax is wonderful for our lips, in hot or cold seasons, when they suffer the most, thanks to this natural protective layer, it prevents them from cracking and hydrates them. For this reason, it is the star ingredient for lip balms.
-
Relieves itching on sensitive skin.
The wax is also known for its ability to soothe the skin and relieve itching. It is very good for people who have suffered injuries such as burns; or who have skin disorders such as acne, pimples, psorasis, etc.
-
It can help smooth and reduce stretch marks.
When we don't have enough collagen and elastin and our body swells from pregnancy or gains weight, the skin suffers damage that shows up in the form of stretch marks.
Beeswax, being rich in vitamin A, which is one of the most efficient in rejuvenating our skin, can help alleviate some of these problems and make stretch marks less prominent.
-
Enhance makeup.
Some makeup brands have started using beeswax in their products, and for good reason. This property that we mentioned of creating an insulating layer on the skin that retains moisture, is transferred to makeup. That means it's now more resistant to water and sweat, so layers of makeup won't crease and skin won't dry out.
Now that you've seen all that beeswax can do for our skin, you'll better understand why Maybeez is one of our favorite ingredients in our products.
We hope that you will be encouraged to try natural products made with beeswax so that you notice all these benefits that we tell you about on your skin.
See you in the next post!
