Diferencias entre ecológico, vegano y cruelty free.

Organic or vegan products?

Every time you go to buy a product, do you realize that there are so many different labels that it confuses you? Is it better to be cruelty free? What is the difference vegan or organic? Are organic and ecological the same? Is it important that a product is sustainable?

Don't panic, we know it's confusing and sometimes a headache to see so many new tags and not know exactly what they mean or what would be the right one for us.

Don't worry, today we are going to define them so that when we have to decide, we do it while being aware of what we are buying.

NATURAL

Starting from the simplest, a natural product is one in which at least 95% of its ingredients are of natural origin, that is, its composition is not changed with chemicals, it is a pure substance that we can find in nature.

They can be of vegetable, mineral or animal origin, or even a mixture of these three types, but even the mixture must be processed in such a way that its main characteristics are not altered. For example: essential oils, vegetable oils or extracts.

ECOLOGICAL

An ecological product is one whose production has been done with awareness and defense of the environment, therefore organic products or ingredients come from agriculture, production or transformation free of chemical residues.

Therefore, when we buy products like this, we are sure that they were manufactured minimizing the emission of harmful and polluting substances to our planet.

Now, is ecological the same as organic ? The answer is yes, organic products are also called organic or biological , in all three ways, it means the same; a product made taking care of the environment.

VEGAN

Vegan cosmetics refers to the fact that the product does not contain ingredients from animals or products generated by them, such as milk, honey, animal fats, snail slime, etc. They are products with more awareness of animal welfare and cruelty-free towards them, but we must always make sure, when we choose a vegan product, that it does not test products on animals either.

TOXIC FREE

In some products, toxic free is indicated, which basically means that they do not contain any polluting product, neither for us nor for the environment. Some of these toxic components are common in the composition of creams, shampoos and toothpastes on the market, surely it will sound familiar to you to see some of these names: Sodium lauryl sulfate, Paraffinum liquidum, Diethylphthalate (DEHP) etc.

These strange names that we sometimes read in the ingredients are often parabens, silicones, fragrances or synthetic preservatives that can cause damage to our body due to continued use, interfering with the hormonal functioning of our body and our health.

CRUELTY FREE

Some companies test their products on animals, this is a reality. Although there are campaigns and sanctions and in the European Union it is prohibited, many companies continue to do so. Well, this label on a product means that that company is aware of animal welfare and animal testing is prohibited at any stage of production.

SUSTAINABLE

Last but not least, when we talk about a sustainable product, we mean that it meets a series of standards that are taken into account when developing said product: such as respecting the environment, using clean, non-polluting processes, making the most of the energy used and above all making sure that each person involved in the production process receives a decent wage and respects their rights.

Now you may be wondering, can a product be sustainable, ecological and cruelty free? The answer is yes. Can a vegan product be tested on animals or contain toxic products? The answer is yes again.

That is why knowledge of these labels is so important.

At Maybeez we always insist, we have to know what we are using in our body, where it came from, how it is produced, etc., be aware of what we are paying for and why.
